    No boat? No problem! Although you can't swim in Lake Ming, you can still enjoy time along their two landscaped shorelines. With plenty of parking nearby, you're permitted to cast a line at any of their designated fishing spots as long as you have a valid California State Fishing License.

  • Picnics in Hart Memorial Park
    After spending time near the water, cool down and refuel with a picnic at Hart Memorial Park. As part of the Kern River County Park, you can grill up some lunch while your children play on the campground.

  • Camping at Kern River Campground
    Are you having so much fun that you'd rather not head home? Then spend the night camping at Kern River Campground. Overlooking the Kern River, there are 25 campsites perfect for up to eight guests. Bathrooms, showers, picnic tables, and fire pits are available at this dry campsite, and guests are allowed to bring a generator. As long as they're on a leash, your furry four-legged family members are also welcome to spend the night!

  • Sports at Pyles Boys Camp/Golf Course
    Opposite Hart Memorial Park is Pyles Boys Camp/Golf Course Picnic Ground. This fenced and gated area is great for groups or formal gatherings. Multiple grills, over 100 picnic tables, a volleyball court, a basketball court, horseshoe pits, and a children's play area are available to reserve. If you're planning a family reunion or large event, there are few better places near Bakersfield than Pyles Boys Camp near Lake Ming to host it.

  • Attending Special Events
    With close proximity to Bakersfield, it's no surprise that Lake Ming is a popular destination to host special events. Each year, approximately a full month of dates are reserved for special events such as boating, water skiing, or fishing competitions. If you're planning a weekend at Lake Ming, be sure to check their event calendar to make sure that the lake is open to the public.
